For him, (with Latin in his blood) dancing to the rhythm of the ‘clave’ is just a natural thing. His unique ability to find that perfect dance track, or play the most obscure dance floor filler coupled with his innovative dance style adds to his appeal, hence his large following of salseros eager to learn the latest turn pattern or dance to the hottest Salsa.

Jose CardosoFrom DJ’ing and then teaching at the iconic Poco Loco at Chaffeurs club in Liverpool, Jose has devoted all of his spare time to his music and dance, constantly creating and recreating, inspiring and innovating. The passion for this hobby has remained constant over the years and he has always remained one step ahead, proving that by keeping up with the times and trends you can always remain fresh and exciting.

Jose has been a mainstay here in the North West but his reputation is nationwide if not worldwide as dancing,award_jc instructing and DJ’ing at various congresses and events has given him the opportunity to make friends and acquaintances with the cream of Salsa society.

He has often choreographed performances presenting them at charity events, raising money mainly for local charities. His energy never seems to flag and when not at his work you can always find Jose researching music, designing footwork or watching every dance scene from every film or video to inspire his already fantastic repertoire!

For many years in Liverpool and the North West Cuban Salsa was the chosen dance style in the clubs and classes, but there was to be a mini revolution as Jose was already on to the teaching of Eddie Torres and the whole New York Style, On2 bringing with it the sounds of Mambo and Tito Puente … this was to initially cause chaos amongst Salseros but along with a few devotees launched this new style in a big way, confident that this was the to move on, and now NY Salsa is very much the norm.

Many dancers have learnt from Jose and many of them have gone on to be instructors and club hosts in their own right even making it their profession.
